What is the Community Covenant?
In our everyday world, we use the word covenant to describe a usually formal, solemn, and binding agreement. Covenant holds more weight than the word contract. It implies a promise that is often rooted in relationship.
To help us to be more aware of our relationship with Christ and the parish, the Pastoral Council has gathered wisdom from scripture, books on discipleship in today's world, and listening to parishioners. They have drawn together those thoughts in a covenant for our parish. This covenant is a document that expresses the relationship between the community and a single member of the parish from both sides. It is a vision of what it looks like to be a disciple, as well as a vision of a vibrant and inclusive parish community. Our Community Covenant has six sections: We Pray, We Invite, We Serve, We Nurture, We Go Forth, and We Embrace.
